Hey there!

I'm Mike Arvela, a 26-year-old fella from Tampere, Finland. For living, I develop software at Futurice. I also hope to soon graduate from the University of Tampere, mastering in Computer science. I'm livin' it large together with my wife Taika and our two schipperkes Nökö and Jekku (boys' own page in Finnish).

I fancy all the usual modern day nerd stuff, including (web) software development, usability and anything that makes life easier and more pleasant. I believe in simplicity — if people can't make sense out of something, it's either too complicated or poorly designed. I also see coding and software architecture as a form of art, in which one can always improve.

I guess there's a bit of humanitarian in me, since I would like everyone to be happy and want to do something significant for making the world a better place for everyone. I am sure I'll find my way around that sometime.

In my free time, I either listen to music or experiment with it myself, play a little something on XBox, break my limbs in Han Moo Do or shoot some hoops. Not necessarily in any order :)

Feel free to browse my web presence and get in touch!
